Sveti Juraj
is a village and harbour on the coast of the Velebit Channel, 10
km south of Senj. Economy is based on farming, livestock breeding,
fishing, wood-processing and tourism. The harbour is also well
protected from south winds, partly also from west winds. However,
it is not protected from the bora blowing from the Oltari pass.
Between Vlaska and Sveti Juraj are several coves with nice shores.
The small cove of Kolo, south of Sveti Juraj, provides good
shelter to smaller vessels. Especially important are rich
submarine freshwater springs. |
